Aleksander Barkov Jr. was born on September 2, 1995, in Tampere, Finland. Following in his father's footsteps (Aleksander Barkov Sr., a former hockey player), he began playing hockey at a young age. He joined Tappara's junior program and quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing his exceptional talent and hockey sense. At just 16 years old, Barkov made his professional debut with Tappara in the SM-liiga, Finland's top professional league. He became the youngest player ever to score a goal in the league.
